چکیده

The study aims to evaluate the removal of sulfur content from Iraqi light naphtha produced in Al-Dora refinery by adsorption desulfurization DS technique using modified activated carbon MAC loaded with nickel Ni and copper Cu as single binary metals. experiments were carried a batch unit various operating parameters; dosage, agitation speed, contact time 300 min at constant initial concentration 155 ppm temperature. results showed higher DS% AC/Ni-Cu (66.45)% 500 rpm 1 g dosage than (29.03)% AC, increasing led values. capacity was recorded (16, 15, 20) mg sulfur/g for AC/Ni, AC/Cu and, AC/Ni-Cu, respectively. Equilibrium isotherm show good fitting Freundlich model R2 value (0.95) AC/Ni-Cu. kinetic (0.974, 0.981, 0.95) pseudo first order (0.96, 0.916 0.909) second AC/Cu, calculated qe(cal) (4.337-4.79) mg/g nearest obtained qe(exp) (5.125) where no interparticle diffusion referring more one process is controlling compounds MAC.

Enhanced adsorption of quaternary amine using modified activated carbon.

This study examined different methodologies to modify activated carbon (AC) for the removal of quaternary amine, tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH), from water. Commercial carbon (WAC) was treated by nitric acid oxidation (NA-WAC), silica impregnation (SM-WAC0.5), and oxygen plasma (P10-WAC), and their characteristics and adsorption capacity were compared. The Langmuir model fitted the equili...

Experimental Investigation and Modeling of CO2 Adsorption Using Modified Activated Carbon

In this research, Activated Carbon (AC) was modified using a sodium hydroxide solution for CO2 adsorption. Adsorption experiments were carried out in a batch reactor at a temperature range of 20-80°C and a pressure range of 2-10 bars to investigate kinetic, isotherm, and thermodynamic of the CO2 adsorption process. Activated carbon was modified with NaOH solution conce...

Activated Carbon Modified with Copper for Adsorption of Propanethiol

Activated carbons were characterized texturally and chemically before and after treatment, using surface area determination in the BET model, Boehm titration, TPR, DRX and immersion calorimetry. The adsorption capacity and the kinetics of sulphur compound removal were determined by gas chromatography. It was established that the propanethiol retention capacity is dependent on the number of oxyg...

Adsorption of methyl mercaptan on surface modified activated carbon.

The influence of surface modification of activated carbon on the adsorption of methyl mercaptan in N(2) was investigated. The modification of the activated carbon was carried out by treatment with HNO(3)/H(2)SO(4) solutions, heat-treatment in Ar, and adsorption of cetylamine. Acid-treatment increased the adsorption of methyl mercaptan compared with the original activated carbon, and the adsorbe...
